This was once a taboo in American Jewish life, especially among pro-Israel Jews, since it was seen as "interfering" with domestic Israeli affairs. I used to think that too, but I've come to feel differently, largely because so much of the Israeli right receives massive American support. <br /><br />I think we seriously underestimate the extent to which much (though not all or even necessarily a majority) of the rightward drift of Israeli politics over the last two decades has been helped along by massive investments from private citizens in the United States. In a context when Adelson is propping up an entire mass circulation newspaper to support the current government, liberal American Jewry doing more to help empower the Israeli left is worth considering.Ari Ne'emanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11994339439474211203noreply@blogger.com
