I Call it a Win

The CNN headline says "Stevens sees vindication". What they mean, of course, is that Stevens is promising he'll be exonerated upon appeal. But what I preferred to interpret it to mean is him pulling a Sarah Palin, and claiming that the jury verdict which convicted him of eight counts of corruption actually showed he was perfectly ethical at all times.

Of course. Look rich corrupt senators are not going to let a little thing like a jury verdict stop them. Stevens probably thinks that its like a congressional subpoena, totally without consequences. I was surprised he bothered to acknowledge the courts jurisdiction. I was half expecting some crazy argument about "legislative privilege" where legislators being a branch of the government are immune to sanction from the courts another branch of the government and that none of it really matters any way because he is from alaska, which secretly seceded from the union.
