I can't decide if Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD), son of my former Senator, and currently representing a neighboring House district of mine (previously held by now-Senator Ben Cardin (D)) is a complete and utter geek or a total bad-ass. Perhaps both.

Are political offices hereditary in the US?
Given the incumbency rate of the legislative body, I already knew they were for life... but always seeing sons of someone in politics is even more troubling...

He's wrong. `How can we help' is simple present indicative with a modal verb. Hortatory subjunctive would be something like, `Let us all find ways to help.'
