Racial Slurs Hurled at Democratic Congressmen

Three Democratic Representatives, John Lewis (D-GA), Andre Carson (D-IN), and Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), all are reporting that anti-health care protesters have hurled the n-word at them as they walked towards Capitol Hill. Meanwhile, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) has been met with anti-gay slurs such as "faggot" and "homo" as he walked on the Hill.

UPDATE: Republican leaders (but not all Republican Congressmen) have strongly denounced the slurs. Good.

Paraphrasing the words of Mike Pence (R-In), those protesters are the American People and House Republicans stand with them. The insurance companies-sorry-the American people don't want regulation of any kind-sorry-the American people don't want socialism. These Democrats are just taking a principled stand against the insurance industry--sorry--they're takin' a principle stand against "the American People" and they don't expect to get burned like this?

Anonymous, you're not making any sense. Are you advocating the utterance of racial slurs against black congressmen who favor health reform, or are you against it?

I'm with Rebecca, I'm confused too...

I don't think that anyone reading this blog would seriously advocate that. I do apologize for my sloppily typed post, but the scare quotes I, thought, would make things quite clear: those that spit and slurred are representative of the folks that the Republicans have tried to convince us are "the American people". Sorry, I thought the humor was a bit clearer than it is...

Alas, this blog has its contingent of trolls same as all others, so we can't be sure.

I got it, Anon. And though it wasn't very responsive to the original post, I was amused.
